Boer War Memorial |

The South African War memorial is a plaque fixed
to the building behind the present cenotaph in Farsley It carries the
names of 21 Farsley men who took part in the campaign of 1899 to 1902.
1. Lt Sydney Arthur Slater of the 57 Coy. Imperial Yeomanry, died of enteric fever at Kroonstadt 29/1/1901; his name also appears on the following monuments Coombe Hill Wendover/Giggleswick School, Giggleswick N Yorkshire/Leeds
2. 4242 Private J Kitchen of 4th Battalion West Yorkshires died of disease at Worcester 21/1/1902 & his name also appears in York Minster.
3. 5369 A Keighley of 2nd Battalion West Yorkshires was killed in action at Ermelo 19/1/1901. Not known whether this was Albert or Alfred
